The handle is made from a poured acrylic resin surrounding the feathers of a Duck. Ducks are mostly aquatic birds, and may be found in both fresh water and sea water. The word duck comes from Old English “duce”, a derivative of the verb “ducan”, “to duck, bend down low as if to get under something, or dive”. In 2002, psychologist Richard Wiseman and colleagues at the University of Herfordshire, UK, finished a year-long LaughLab experiment, concluding that of all animals, ducks attract the most humor and silliness; he said, “If you’re going to tell a joke involving an animal, make it a duck.”.

This unique handle was cast by John Underhill, an award winning feather artist and resin caster.  Each feather is painstakingly placed prior to casting in crystal clear acrylic resin.  This is truly a “one of a kind” piece as, just like snowflakes, each feather has a different pattern, color shade and character.
